chilled with the brits most of the day. had lunch with witts at some dinner round the way. good stuff. the shake was the best i've ever had. what i love about nyc food is the portions. soo much stuff for soo little money. you end up only eating once a day.

we then went back to the hostel and chilled with the rest. loved chilling on the stoops in the afternoons, catch soo much joke from randoms.
2 locals in charlotte and laura meet us up in the evening and took us to central park. wicked views overlooking new jersey.

My New York City trip pt2!
The rest of the British contingent couldn't get hold of me when they arrived at the hostel, so i had to stay in another room for the best part of a week. Thought it would have been a pretty bummy affair not knowing anyone but it worked out pretty well. Meet a girl from Basingstoke who was in NYC studying ballet and a dude from Alabama trying to get his acting/writing gig on. That’s what makes NYC such a great city, so many people from all walks of life trying to make it, proper inspiring stuff.. We all hit it off pretty well and i ended up hanging out with them a bunch. The first day they took me to central park to queue for some Shakespeare tickets. But what we didn't know was that people had been queuing up since 4am for these free tickets. The queue spiralled all the way through the park, was pretty mad to see, especially in the boiling sun. So we ventured to a castle in Central Park, the name escapes me but it was wicked. From there we went to some obscure burger place in a hotel somewhere in Manhattan and got talking to some Brazilians girls that studied at the same University I went too, how random, ha! Then later that night we headed out to a bar called Sin Sin in the Lower East Side. Drum n bass in the main room was a tad meh, but it was good enough!
Chilled with the bntl & ALLCAPS crew till the wee hours. They started drinking from early. Caused a bit of carnage from early too, normal really, ha.
Then in the morning headed out with my hostel roomies!
Queue for the free Shakespeare tickets just kept going and going and going...

who needs a chick? who needs friends?
hostel roomates.

As you can see we were at the back of the queue somewhere in the pits of the park.

hmmmm.......man dem know....
battered these 4's over there. Soo much so their now covered in paint :( anyone with a US10.5 for sale, holla! and yes lacing was insipired by nyc hoodlums. i just had too.
oh yeah and before we left the park we played hacky sack with some random actor guy. he was a hilarious.

The castle in central park.

allow my face. im just living my life.
some awesome views.
people were playing with lil' remote controlled boats in that massive pond.
the zoo.
the burger inside a plush hotel was ram packed!
somewhere near times square.

marry me.
thats Denzel Washington you know.

hello.
Originially we planned on going to the NYLON dunk launch party at the Nike store on Mercer Street, but we got there too late. So we hop footed our way a couple blocks down to Sin Sin on Darrels recommendations and it was a good night. Open bar from 11-12 got ruined, oooowwwwwwwwwwwww!
Some DJ guy we meet in there, safe as chips he was.
dont ask.

tad merry are we?
he def was, ha.
i was responsible.
dont ask.
p.s. matt put some NYC pics up on bntl.co.uk check it out!

My New York City trip!
I'm gonna try and keep this brief cause im gonna be flooding this blog with alot of images and text over the next week or so. So as you might know i went to New York a couple of week’s back. Originally the plan was to fly out with the bntl.co.uk collective, but due to my procrastination and what not i had to fly out earlier and return even sooner, which was a bit of shame. But the trip itself was a amazing experience. I'd been putting off going on holiday for a long time now, but after visiting NYC i can honestly say I’m going to make it my mission to visit as many places in the world as i can. I meet some awesome people out there and made some really good friends. It also inspired me to do a lot of things I’d been putting off. The first of which is a blog switch up which I’ll announce in due course! Along the way I bought a new camera and documented my journey with pictures and video clips which I’ll post each day. There are some really good stories to be heard so keep checking back.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I flew in three days before the rest and didnt take many pictures the first couple of days as i hadn't bought a camera by then, so the pictures below are from Sunday onwards (i think). You'd imagine me being on my own abroad for the first time that i'd be shook to go wonder the streets. But that's exactly what i did those first few days. Each day i'd wake up, shower, get dressed and head out till the wee hours exploring as much as i could. I took advantage of the Supreme and ALIFE sale on my first day but after that i made it my mission to explore the real New York. I stayed in the Gershwin Hotel which is located on 27th street right at the heart of everything a first timer would be into, shops, shops and more shops. So instead of hanging around in Manhattan i wondered downtown and spent most of my time in Lower East Side, East Village and China Town.
First timer mistake i took like 5 pairs of shoes with me but only ended up wearing 2 (jordans & footscape wovens) the whole trip.
My room @ the Gershwin.
Had to jump in a yellow cab a few times, just for the experience i guess. But i prefered walking and how new york is laid out nearly everything is within walking distance anyway.
Roads are massive over there and im sure your at a greater risk of getting injured crossing them. Cars can still turn right/left even when the sign for pedestrians to walk lights up. Was a bit odd that.

Every ATM in NYC charges except for the ones in branches. So theres ATM's on every street corner, most of which have been vandilished to death. Doesn't inspire confidence does it...

Theres crappy street art everywhere not just in Shoreditch, ha.
Every curb has coping, pretty sick!

Some super nice pizza. One of the rare occassions i eat well on my own. Most of the ti
Bought both after watching a TV ad. They really do work out there.
oh and i met heronpreston (thanks again!) on the sunday too. super cool guy. took me to this cool hangout/eatery in LES where everyone seems to hang out. theres a really cool bar downstairs that you get to by going through the kitchen, wish i took pics !

OG Nike Lavadome!
Now these Lavadome's have been on my grail list for the longest time. Pre-dating the Nike ACG division they come from an era where REAL Nike outdoor shoes were made rugged and true. None of that cheapo stuff we've been accustomed to nowadays. I've passed on a few pairs on Yahoo! JP as the price was far too high. But when i spotted these beauties on that popular auction site at a wicked price i just had to snap 'em up. First of all the condition is superb. It comes in its original box albeit no wrapping, which is a shame. The upper suede is nice and rich and the stiff felt material on the swoosh is a nice touch. Not too sure if these will be wearable on the long run but i'm gonna give it a go come winter time. Can’t wait !

Vans Halfcab!
I’ve been meaning to get a new pair of Vans Halfcab’s for a while now. My first pair got battered. Used them to skate and wore them literally everyday for like 6 months. But over time the shape and general comfort of the shoe went downhill. The new halfcab shape is much better. The upper material is much stiffer, so it hopefully won’t give way as easy. The sole is alot thicker too which should hopefully help with comfort. They’re currently on sale @ size?

Aperture for Brand new second hand!
I got a heads up from Carl of Aperture with some pics of the Brand New Second Hand event that went down last week. Love the layout of the blog, nice and simple. The pics are fresh too, they have that grainy feel of film but he actually uses a digi cam. Sick. If i could take pictures i'd love to do something like this for a creative project :( Check my innovative use of a supreme 13th backpack ! Oh and more here.

RE: Reach !
Brand new second hand went down pretty well yesterday. Loads of people turnt out eager for a bargain and many weren't dissapointed. Most of the sellers there were just clearing out their wardrobe but others (jude) had bags and bags of brand new stuff, from stussy button downs to BAPE jackets. Just gutted that none of it was my size. Prices were good aswell, I managed to pick up a pair of stealth jordan 5's for £20 from grace. They'll serve me well till I get my true blue 3's. I also picked up a supreme cap, supreme sweatshirt, subware camo windbreaker, undftd new balance, tenderloin denim and a BAPE tote bag for good measure, ha. The elusive supreme box logo hoody was in my possesion for all 20mins but it got sold before I could pick it up. Pissed. But there's word of similar events once a month, hopefully ill get it then.
